Pownce is a new service that launched few days ago and seems to be an advanced version of Twitter with IM functionalities (it also comes with a downloadable software and plus it integrates file sharing and events planning). All the world seems to talk about it. It is still invitation only, but don’t panic: Pete at Mashable! has found a nice way to get invites. In case you want to add me as a friend, here is the link to my Pownce profile (thanks to Emily Chang for sending me an invite).
My opinion? I think Pownce has been enough talked about; the service is new, although the idea is not very original (it follows the path opened by Twitter, adding something more). So far, the Digg community did not react very positively to its launch - and not based on the quality of the product (it launched few days ago and on a strict per-invites basis, therefore only few people could actually express a valuable opinion about it). We’ll see what happens now that more people are allowed to use it.
